Information We Collect

We collect information only to provide you with the SteadGrow service. Here's what we collect and why:

Camera Access

When you use the plant identification feature, you grant access to your device camera. Photos are processed server-side to identify plants. We do not store images unless you explicitly choose to save them in your garden. Processed images are deleted from our servers after identification is complete.

Location Data

We access your approximate location to provide accurate weather forecasts and growing recommendations. Your location is never shared with third parties or stored in your account profile. It is used only to fetch weather data for your region.

Email Address

We collect your email to create and secure your account, send important notifications about your account, and communicate service updates or policy changes.

Garden & Plant Data

You create and manage your garden—the plants you grow, care notes, watering schedules, harvest dates. This data belongs to you. We store it to power your personalised experience but never share it with third parties, advertisers, or other users.

Information We Don't Collect

To respect your privacy, we intentionally do not collect:

• Your browsing history or app usage patterns
• Your device contacts or call logs
• Your device advertising ID or similar tracking identifiers
• Your social media profiles or linked accounts
• Biometric data or health information (beyond what you voluntarily enter)
• Financial data beyond what's needed for subscription billing

Third-Party Services

We use a minimal set of third-party services, and we handle your data carefully:

Weather API

To provide weather forecasts, we send your approximate location to a weather provider. No personal data (name, email, account ID) is attached to this request. The weather provider has its own privacy policy—we recommend reviewing it.

Plant Identification Processing

Plant identification images are processed by our AI system. Images are not stored after processing unless you save the plant to your garden. We do not use your images to train advertising models or for any purpose beyond identification.

Payment Processing

Subscription payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not handle credit card data directly. Their privacy policies govern payment processing.

No Advertising Trackers

SteadGrow does not use:

• Facebook Pixel or Facebook SDK
• Google Analytics or Google Analytics 4
• AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, or mobile attribution SDKs
• Any advertising network SDKs (AdMob, AppLovin, etc.)
• Cross-device tracking or advertising profiles

We do not participate in advertising networks. We do not build advertising profiles of you. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

Data Storage

Your data is stored on servers in Australia (AWS ap-southeast-2, Sydney). We do not transfer your data outside of Australia unless required for specific services (e.g., plant identification processing). If you request deletion, your data is removed from all backups within 30 days.

Data Retention & Deletion

You have full control over your data. At any time, you can delete your account through the app settings. Upon deletion:

• Your account and login credentials are immediately deleted
• Your garden, plants, and notes are permanently deleted
• Your email is deactivated for future login attempts
• All backups are purged within 30 days

We do not retain data after deletion for marketing, analytics, or any other purpose.

Children's Privacy

SteadGrow is not intended for users under 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it immediately. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to SteadGrow should contact us at privacy@steadgrow.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. For any material changes that affect how we use your data, we will notify you via email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of SteadGrow after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
