The Short Version
You can use SteadGrow for free or as a paid subscriber. You own your data. We provide the service as-is. You can cancel any time.
Account Terms
By creating an account on SteadGrow, you agree to the following:
- You must be at least 16 years old to use SteadGrow
- You must provide accurate and complete information when registering your account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- You are responsible for all activity on your account, whether authorised by you or not
- You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised access or security breaches
- You may not transfer or share your account with another person
Free & Paid Tiers
SteadGrow offers both free and paid subscription options:
Free Tier
Our free tier includes essential plant identification and growing guidance features. All users can access the basic features needed to identify plants and manage a personal garden.
Paid Tiers
Paid subscribers unlock premium features including advanced analytics, extended plant database access, priority support, and additional customisation options. Specific features and pricing are displayed in the app at the time of purchase.
Feature Changes
We may add, modify, or remove features from either tier at any time. If we make material changes to your tier (e.g., removing a core feature), we will notify you 30 days in advance.
Billing & Cancellation
Subscription Billing
Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store (for iOS users) or Google Play (for Android users). Billing occurs at the start of your subscription and on each anniversary or monthly renewal date, depending on your chosen billing cycle.
Cancellation
You can cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account settings in the SteadGrow app or through your device's subscription management system:
- iPhone/iPad: Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > SteadGrow > Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play > Account > Subscriptions > SteadGrow > Cancel
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until the end of your paid period. After cancellation, your account will revert to the free tier.
Refunds
We do not offer partial refunds for subscription periods. If you cancel mid-cycle, you will maintain access to premium features until your billing period ends. If you believe you have been charged in error, please contact your app store (Apple or Google) for refund requests, as they handle all payment disputes.
Price Changes
We may change subscription prices from time to time. If we increase prices, we will notify you 30 days in advance. Your continued subscription after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use SteadGrow for any of the following:
- Violating any applicable laws or regulations
- Harassing, threatening, defaming, or abusing other users
- Uploading malicious code, viruses, or malware
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to SteadGrow systems or other users' accounts
- Scraping, automated harvesting, or bulk downloading of data from SteadGrow without permission
- Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or attempting to discover the source code of the SteadGrow app
- Using the app for commercial purposes without permission (e.g., reselling data or features)
- Spam, phishing, or distributing unsolicited messages
- Circumventing rate limits, security measures, or access controls
Violation of these terms may result in account suspension or termination without refund.
Intellectual Property
SteadGrow owns: The SteadGrow app, all code, features, design, graphics, logos, trademarks, and content created by us.
You own: All photos, garden data, plant records, notes, and personal content you upload or create. We do not claim ownership of your data.
License: By using SteadGrow, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use your data solely to provide and improve the service (e.g., aggregated analytics, machine learning models to improve identification accuracy). We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
User Content
You retain full ownership of all photos and garden data you upload or create on SteadGrow. We do not use your content for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than providing the service.
Aggregated & Anonymised Data
We may use anonymised, aggregated data (e.g., "Southern Australian gardeners grow 40% more herbs in spring") to improve the app, publish research, or guide feature development. This aggregated data cannot identify you.
User Generated Content Guidelines
If you share your garden publicly (via optional sharing features), other users may view and comment on your content. You are responsible for any content you make public and should not share sensitive personal information.

Plant Identification
Plant identification is performed by artificial intelligence and is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Always verify the app's identification with a local gardener, botanist, or expert before taking action based on the identification alone.
Important: Do not eat, ingest, or use plants for medicinal purposes based solely on app identification. Many plants are toxic, and misidentification could cause serious harm or death. Always consult an expert before consuming or using any plant.
Not Professional Advice
SteadGrow provides general gardening guidance based on typical growing conditions and plant data. The information is not personalised professional advice. For specific horticultural, botanical, or health concerns, consult a qualified professional such as a local horticulturist, plant pathologist, or medical doctor.
Weather Data
Weather forecasts are sourced from third-party providers and are subject to their accuracy and availability. We do not guarantee forecast accuracy and are not liable for decisions made based on weather predictions.
Service Availability
We strive to keep SteadGrow available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The app may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues beyond our control.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SteadGrow and its operators shall not be liable for:
- Direct or indirect damages, losses, or injuries arising from use of the app
- Loss of data, privacy breaches (except where caused by our gross negligence)
- Lost profits, business interruption, or lost revenue
- Errors or inaccuracies in plant identification or growing advice
- Third-party services (e.g., weather providers, payment processors)
- Misuse of the app or violation of these terms
This limitation applies even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under or relating to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
